CEC Approves Second Round Vote Tally

The Central Election Commission (CEC) approved on December 14 the final vote tally of the second round of presidential elections.

According to the CEC protocol, 1,988,787 voters turned out at polling stations on November 28, out of 3,528,658 registered voters. 59,778 ballots were annulled, a much higher figure than in the first round of presidential elections (53,847).

The final election result is as follows:

On November 28, Georgians went to the polls to elect their fifth president, replacing incumbent President Giorgi Margvelashvili, who has been in office since October, 2013.

The inauguration of President-elect, Salome Zurabishvili is planned in a eastern Georgian town of Telavi on December 16. Simultaneously, the opposition coalition plans to hold a protest rally.
